Timeful Intelligently Arranges Tasks And Events On Your Calendar

iOS: We already have our picks for the best calendar app and the best to-do app for the iPhone, but Timeful wants to converge the two. It also offers to intelligently slot your tasks at the best time possible.

Timeful is made by behavioural economics processor Dan Ariely and a team of scientists and engineers, who are looking to put their research on human behaviour and productivity into a smart-calendar app. The idea is that you finish tasks scheduled on your calendar instead of the ones you put in a to-do list.

Timeful is a task list: you can create a new to-do in categories, such as personal, work, fun, important and custom, each with their own colour. It’s also a habit-forming app: you can choose from a list of recommended good habits or create your own, and set a frequency and duration for it. It also syncs with Google Calendar. Once you have everything set up, Timeful shows your to-do list and your calendar, and you just drag and drop events to arrange your day.

This is where the scientists’ research comes in. Timeful also automatically suggests time slots for various tasks based on how your calendar is looking. It learns as you use it, so you need to be active in accepting or rejecting those suggestions, and you need to customise your settings for your most productive time, work days and hours, and sleep schedule. The more you use it and actively accept and reject suggestions, the smarter Timeful will get, say the researchers.
