Turn Old Yoghurt Containers Into Handy Measuring Cups

Don’t throw away a yoghurt cup when you’re done eating. These plastic cups are perfect for measuring ingredients, and they have a few other uses too.

We’ve previously talked about how yoghurt containers can be used to catch paint drips. America’s Test Kitchen has come up with some other applications for what would have been rubbish otherwise. The coolest one is using them as measuring cups:

Can’t find a measuring cup? If you’ve got a clean, dry yoghurt cup lying around (this may take some digging in the recycling bin), you’re in luck. Use a 4-ounce size for a 1/2-cup measure, a 6-ounce size for a 3/4-cup measure, and a 8-ounce size for a 1-cup measure.

Apart from that, ATK says yoghurt containers are also great for mise en place, and punching holes in the lids turns them into handy sprinkle-shakers.
