This Interactive Guide Helps You Drink Like A Local When You Travel

Travelling is the perfect opportunity to soak up some culture, but it’s also a great chance to soak up some of the local food and drink — specifically boozy drinks. Avoid ordering your usual bar staples back home and use this interactive guide to find out what the locals drink.

The guide, from the folks at Swissotel, lets you select beer, wine or cocktails. Pick the country you plan to visit, and you’ll see what some of the common local tipples are. Of course, common doesn’t always mean best, but the selection is wide enough that you’ll probably find some good options for any place you plan to visit. (Though it does suggest XXXX for Australia.)

If you’re headed to Singapore, look for Tiger if you’re looking for a beer, and while cocktails vary, it is the home of the Singapore Sling. Similarly, travellers in Germany have a wide selection of beers, and visitors to Japan should absolutely try Sake (preferably several) before they go home. These are a few obvious ones, but hit the link below and try a country you’re thinking about visiting — you might find something you can make at home that’s popular abroad, or discover a drink you’re unfamiliar with.
