Forgive Your Mistakes (And Others’) Each Night For Less Stress

The folks over at the American Express Open Forum have a series of short rituals to consider at bedtime. One of their best tips: Forgive your mistakes at the end of each day for a better tomorrow.

Instead of ruminating about all the frustrations of the day, simply forgive those who wronged you. While in bed, you can’t do anything about them. Forgiveness provides closure and allows you to move on to items you actually have control over.

Similarly, include forgiveness for yourself. Look at what mistakes you made or how you might have caused frustrations for others. Once you forgive yourself, you can then focus on correcting those mistakes tomorrow after a good night’s sleep. If you have trouble getting in the forgiving mood, check out some of the meditations on buddhify.
