Android: Disconnect Search, the utility that lets you search the web’s most popular search engines without being tracked , has arrived on Android. Now you can search Google, Bing, Yahoo, Blekko and even DuckDuckGo without leaving a trace.
Disconnect Search was built by the team behind Disconnect, our favourite privacy-protecting browser add-on . The Android version of Disconnect Search is bare bones, but it doesn’t need frills to do what it does best. Just fire it up, type in what you’re looking for, and select the search engine you want to use. Disconnect Search will anonymise the query and your IP address, and block any dropped cookies the provider may try to leave behind. The app even has a widget you can drop on your home screen to quickly search from anywhere.
Obviously using Disconnect Search doesn’t give you the benefits that using Google Search does, like storing locations and previous search information for use with Google Now, but that’s the privacy trade-off. Hit the link below to give it a try.
