Office Web Apps Changes Name To Office Online

This is a name change we can get on board with: Office Web Apps (the cut-down free browser-based version of the Office suite) is now known as Office Online. It also has a much simpler site address: Office.com.

Apart from the new address, the apps also have an enhanced set of available templates, and a new ‘app switcher’ to move between individual apps, which mimics the look of Windows 8. Definitely useful if you want basic Office functionality, although as we’ve noted before, not all the features of the full desktop apps are included.
