Briefly: GIF Cosplay, Samsung Galaxy S5, RIP Harold Ramis

Brief news items of note for Lifehacker readers including: Cosplay GIF edition, everything you need to know about the Samsung Galaxy S5, see this year’s Oscar nominees at the movies for $10 .

  • Cosplay galleries are old hat. Nowadays it’s all about arty cosplay GIFs. Also. here’s another Kotaku cosplay gallery. We like old hat.
  • The smartphone announcements keep on coming out of Mobile World Congress 2014 and Gizmodo has been in the thick of it as usual. Click here to see all their coverage including the Samsung’s latest flagship handset, the Galaxy S5.
  • We don’t usually do obituary shout-outs in Briefly (hell, even Nelson Mandela didn’t rate a mention). But we’ve decided to make an exception for Harold Ramis, who is perhaps best known for his role as Egon Spengler in Ghostbusters. Ramis also co-wrote the movie and was a chief contributor to Caddyshack, Vacation, Animal House and Groundhog Day to name just a few. In other words, he was awesome. Click here to relive one of his classic Ghostbusters moments (and try not to titter at the last line).
  • Event Cinemas is re-screening all of this year’s Best Picture Oscar nominees in the lead up to the Academy Awards. The films — 12 Years a Slave, The Wolf of Wall Street, American Hustle, Philomena, Gravity, Captain Philips and Dallas Buyers Club — will be showing until 5 March for $10 per ticket. Or you could just download the leaked screeners. But that would be bad. [Via OzBargain]
