Windows Intune Adds Email Profiles, Remote Lock Features

Windows Intune, Microsoft’s cloud-based management platform, is about to receive an update that boosts its mobile device management (MDM) capabilities. The new release adds the ability to create standardised email profiles for device configuration, as well as enabling remote lock for misplaced devices.

In a blog post, Microsoft says the enhancements will begin rolling out next week. Other additions include support for iOS 7’s “Managed open” capability, which allows the opening of documents and attachments to be restricted to particular apps, and the ability to reset passwords on more devices.

The new options can be enabled in System Center Configuration Manager via the new “Extensions for Windows Intune” feature. Hit the blog post for a more detailed description.
