This Raspberry Pi-Powered Arcade Stick Is Pre-Loaded With Games

We’ve shown you a few ways to build an arcade with a Raspberry Pi, but this build shrinks everything down into a Neo-Geo-style arcade stick. It can be connected to an external monitor, it’s packed with games, and it’s way more portable than a coffee table build.

The whole thing looks fantastic, and it’s impressive that the build managed to stay so small. Bencao74 used a PiJamma — a retro arcade and gaming PCB add-on for the Raspberry Pi — to consolidate a lot of the components he would need for the build. This isn’t the simplest DIY project — bencao74 had the acrylic casing for the stick custom made, and he wired up all of the connectors for the stick, video, USB and power to the top of the arcade stick neatly so he didn’t have to put the Pi right up against the side of the case and run a bunch of cables inside it.

The finished product looks fantastic and professionally done, but if you want to duplicate it at home, you’ll have some work ahead of you. You could probably get by modding an existing arcade stick with a Pi and a PiJamma inside and do the wiring yourself if you didn’t want a custom enclosure. Hit the link below for photos of the entire build and a video of the stick in action.
