ABC iView For Android Is Finally Here

We’ve been waiting a long time, but the ABC has finally made good on its promise to bring out an Android app for its excellent iView TV catchup service. It’s even managed to meet the recent promise of a December release.

The app will only work if your device runs Android 4.0.3 or later, and even then is restricted to specific devices. That said, most of the majors are covered:

Phones:
•Samsung Galaxy S2, S3 & S4
•Samsung Galaxy Note and Note 2
•LG Nexus 4
•HTC One
•Sony Xperia Z
Tablets:
•Samsung Galaxy Tab (7.7)
•Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) & (10.1)
•Samsung Galaxy Note (8.0) & (10.1)
•Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (7.0), (8.0) & (10.1)
•Nexus 7 (2012 & 2013)
•Nexus 10
•Sony Xperia Tablet Z

As with the existing iOS app, caution is advised if you’re using this with your 3G or 4G connection, as you’ll chew through data quite quickly. Regardless, it’s great that iView is now on an equal footing for the two major mobile OS platforms.
