DIY hot water bottle: soak some dish [tea] towels with warm water and microwave until steaming hot. Put in a ziplock bag, wrap in a t-shirt or towel, apply to affected area, and you’re good for hours. This takes about 5 minutes to get ready.

Commenter random_user_name_13, who claims to be an ICU nurse, suggests putting the towels in the Ziploc bag before putting it in the microwave, and leaving the bag open while inside. Ziplocs are microwave safe, so it shouldn’t be a problem.

And if you need a heating pad instead with that microwave, all you need is a sock and some grains.
