In his talk at Y Combinator’s Startup School, Twitter chairman and Square co-founder Jack Dorsey expanded on how he consciously reminds himself to make better choices and in turn, be a better person. He calls it a “do and don’t” list.

The Next Web went into details of what he includes on the list:
Here’s some of the items from Jack’s “do” list:
Stay present: don’t focus on the past or the future.
Be vulnerable: show people your mistakes and fears so that they can relate
Drink only lemon water and red wine
Six sets of 20 squats and push-ups every day, run for 3 miles, meditate on this list, stand up straight, spend 10 minutes with a heavy bag
Say hello to everyone
Get 7 hours of sleep
Here’s his “don’ts”:
- Don’t avoid eye contact
- Don’t be late
- Don’t set expectations and not meet them
- Don’t eat sugar
Dorsey maintains the list on his phone and checks it every day and night. It “has been fundamental in establishing patterns for myself,” he said, according to CNET.

Given the recent articles about the fickle and perfidious Jack Dorsey, he is hardly a character to be taking character improvement lessons from, so thanks, but I’m already leagues ahead in both moral and personal integrity than this walking turd.
If his lists make him a better person, that’s great, though I suspect he needs a lot more than just a paltry list.
Let’s just remember that better does not equal good.
Is that you Leo?
Twitter is so not TWIT. Let it it go.
😉
I’ve read that the brain processes information better in DO’s versus DON’T’s. I’m not sure if it’s true but I always try to use lists like this in the positive: “DO be on time, DO make eye contact, DO set realistic expectations and meet them.”
Just a thought.
