F.lux Updates With New Colour Modes

Windows: Quite a while has passed since f.lux, one of our favourite tools to protect your eyes, picked up a major update. However, the latest version is out of beta. It adds features including a “movie mode” that’s warm but won’t sacrifice shadows and detail and new hotkeys for manual control.

We mentioned f.lux’s beta for Windows a few months ago. In addition to warmer colour temperatures and the new Movie mode, the latest version also supports a “disable until morning” feature, which is perfect for those late-night crunch sessions where you have work to do. There are also new hotkeys to disable f.lux entirely and then re-enable it without quitting the program, and if you have a laptop, f.lux now automatically gets warmer when your backlight dims. Plus, f.lux has a schedule for the Philips Hue colour-changing LED, so if you have them in your house, your can f.lux your entire home with the push of a button.

Hit the link below to grab the new version — it’s available now for Windows (hopefully OS X and Linux are coming soon), and it’s completely free.
