Dealhacker: Get 50% Off The Nintendo Wii U At Dick Smith

If you’re sick of waiting for the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 to land in Australia, Dick Smith has a deal that may be of interest to you. The retailer is currently selling premium Wii U bundles for just $214, which is effectively half-price.

The premium Wii U bundle comes with the monolithic tablet-based ‘GamePad’ in addition to the regular controller. It also comes bundled with the full game NintendoLand. Dick Smith will be offering the discounted bundle to in-store shoppers only.

In our previous Wii U price roundup, the cheapest in-store price we could find for a premium bundle was $378.

Despite the Wii U’s ailing sales across the globe, we’d be very surprised if the console didn’t fly off the shelves at the above asking price. After all, just look at what happened during Harvey Norman’s $99 HP Touchpad fire-sale — and that was for a completely dead platform. In other words, we advise acting fast and calling the store ahead of time to avoid disappointment.

While the long-term future of the Wii U remains uncertain, there are already some classic games available for the system with more promising titles in the pipeline, including Wind Waker HD and Super Mario 3D World. At this price, we think it’s worth taking a gamble.
