Persist For Android Offers Total Control Over Your Volume Settings

Android: Unifying volume options for notifications, alerts, calls and music was one of the more annoying recent changes to Android. Fortunately, a number of apps can return that granular control to you. Persist is a new contender that’s one of the most powerful we’ve seen, and it comes with lots of options.

Persist gives you control over your ringer, in-call, media, alarm, Bluetooth, system and notification volume levels separately, and you can set each one just where you like them (or mute them entirely, so you can mute everything but your ringer so a late night emergency call will wake you, but your friend pinging you on Twitter won’t). You can even set individual ringtones or alert sounds for each type of audio. It can also lock those volume settings so they can’t be changed by other apps.

All of those features are available in the free version. If you have $4, you can upgrade to the pro version of the app, which includes several home screen widgets so you can quickly set volume levels without having to open the app, toggle saved volume presets like “home” and “work”, switch to vibrate mode quickly and so on. The paid version also lets you schedule volume levels by time of day, GPS location or by appointment, so an urgent meeting will also come through, or your ringer will always automatically turn on as soon as you get home.

If you’re a Tasker expert, or have another automation app that you love, you may be able to duplicate a lot of these features, but Persist is a great option for people who either don’t have the skill, time or desire to get their hands dirty. Hit the link below to try it out at Google Play.
