This Quick Video Guide Shows You How To Cook Perfect Pasta

We’ve talked about cooking pasta perfectly several times before. It’s not rocket science, there’s definitely a difference between al dente and overdone. This quick video guide from America’s Test Kitchen will make sure you always get good results, and it’s short enough to refer to when you need a refresher.

If you’re an old hand at this, the video won’t offer much new to you, but if you’re still rinsing your pasta after cooking it, or adding oil to your cooking water, it’s worth watching. Amongst other tips, ATK’s Christie Morrison explains why you should stir your pasta as soon as you put it in the water instead of just walking away.

The video wraps up with one of my favourite pasta cooking tips: save some of your pasta water before you drain it — that water is full of flavour (and starch) that can help make your sauce stick to the pasta, or loosen up the sauce if it’s too thick.
