The drive-in is in danger of disappearing, but a handful of locations maintain the tradition of watching flicks from your car. Check out our interactive map of all the remaining drive-ins in Australia.

We’ve placed every drive-in with an active on-line presence we could locate in Australia on the map below, complete with a link to its web site. Drive-in hours vary widely and many close outside of busy periods, so check before making a trip.
If you know of one we’ve missed, tell us in the comments and we’ll update it. (Note we’re not including purely seasonal events or moonlight cinemas; this is about permanent drive-ins operating in an ongoing way.)

Coober Pedy has one! http://www.cooberpedy.sa.gov.au/TourismWebsite/page.aspx?u=314&c=394
Sadly, the Blacktown drive-ins in Western Sydney are scheduled to close soon to make way for the new ‘Wet & Wild’ theme park.
This isn’t correct. They are in the process of upgrading the facility.
Wet & Wild and Event Cinemas are both subsidiary companies of Village Roadshow.
They are set to make a lot of money in that precinct.
Shame they aren’t building a Movie World next to the drive in.
I give Wet and Wild in Sydney 5 years before it closes – we just don’t have the weather to support a water park for nearly 50% of the year.
Dromana Drive In gets two thumbs up
The Yatala Drive In has just recently expanded from 2 fields/screens to 3. Great night out.
Yatala just added a third field to their Drive-in Theatre. Must be doing something right.
Oooops, it might have been prudent to refresh my browser before posting my earlier comment!
I live in Tassy 🙁
Dromana!
You’ve already got it on the map, but the Mainline Drive In at Gepps Cross in Adelaide, SA is still going strong. It is operated by The Wallis Family. You can often do a triple feature on a Saturday night. Details for it are at http://www.wallis.com.au.
I just came back from Kununurra in WA and they have one also
