The Converted Tannery Workspace

Communitech, in Waterloo, Canada, draws on a familiar approach for designing a startup incubator: converting disused industrial space. Its headquarters, located in a former tannery, incorporate some nify features, included a lockable electronic ‘buffer box’ which can receive deliveries even when staff members aren’t there.

That project was developed by a Communitech ‘graduate’, as was another nifty tech innovation: a lockable charging box where visitors can leave their phones securely while on site. Check out the photos for more (click on any image for a larger version).

Disclosure: Angus Kidman travelled to Canada as a guest of BlackBerry.
