Windows Phone Scores Google Sync Reprieve

Google’s decision to dump its ActiveSync options in favour of CardDAV and CalDAV last December was bad news for Windows Phone owners who use Gmail and other Google services, since the platform doesn’t support CardDAV. Anyone in that position now has a reprieve of sorts, with Google extending support for ActiveSync on Windows Phone until the end of July this year.

A post on the Windows Phone blog says that by July 31, Windows Phone will have been updated to include CalDAV and CardDAV support. Here’s hoping that applies to Windows Phone 7.8 as well as 8.
