When Google updated its Nexus range in late October, one product was missing from the Australian price list: a 3G-equipped version of the Nexus 7 tablet. Google has now made good on that omission, with the 32GB 3G Nexus 7 due to go on sale for $369.
It hasn’t shown up on the Play store as I type this, but the announcement release says it will be available “in December”. As well as selling through the site, it will be stocked by JB Hi-Fi, Dick Smith, The Good Guys, Bing Lee, Radio Rentals, Officeworks, EB Games and other retailers. There’s no network lock-in (and no 16GB model).
One pricing quirk: the release announcement quotes the existing 16GB and 32GB Wi-Fi only models as costing $269 and $319, while the Play Store quotes $249 and $299 right now. The higher price reflects the $20 postage charge which Google imposes, but it’s the first time we’ve seen that included in the quoted price.
