Text Browser Is A Google Apps Script That Makes The Web Text-Only

Sometimes it’s nice to browse a clean text version of a site. Text Browser is a Google Apps Script that renders any page in a text-only. It also works as a proxy so you can view pages that might otherwise be blocked.

Running Text Browser requires you to be signed into your Google account. When it runs, you’re asked to authorise the script, and then you’re taken to a landing page where you can type in any URL you like.

After a brief moment, the page is loaded up with just text. As well as providing distraction-free reading experience, the script also functions as a proxy allowing you to access pages blocked by your workplace or ISP.

You can also use a bookmarking service to get text-only versions of articles, but Text Browser manages the whole experience of browsing. Head over to Digital Inspiration for full instructions on getting it running for yourself.
