IMEI.info Checks If Your Phone Is Carrier Unlocked (Or Not)

Not sure if your phone is carrier-unlocked?  Handy web site IMEI.info can tell you if you simply provide your IMEI number.

What is an IMEI number?  IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity and is unique to your phone. You can find out what it is by dialling *#06# on any mobile. Alternatively, if you've got an iPhone, you can go into the Settings app and choose General -> About to find it. Once you've got the number, just enter it into the IMEI.info web site and you'll find out if you're unlocked or not.

After a compulsory pay-pal payment, and signup.

There was a "free sim lock status check" button below the main one for me. (iPhone IMEI)

This one works all the time. http://www.amta.org.au/pages/amta/Check.the.Status.of.your.Handset

That's to check whether the phone has been reported lost/stolen and subsequently BLOCKED to all carriers.

It doesn't tell you if your phone is carrier-LOCKED, (ie. sim-locked).

After signing up my email was repeated attempted to be access with the (different) password I gave them. Well done lifehacker, really looked out for your readers here.

Or just look on the back. Seems more logical.

@Husky - dude, I'll be checking my logs with interest. Definitely pays to use a 'burner' address with these things !
