Create A Life Plan By Answering Three Questions

A life plan is like a map that helps guide you towards a more meaningful life. Having one could save you from letting the days go by without purpose. Leadership speaker Michael Hyatt offers a number of resources for creating your personal life plan.

In his blog post/podcast, Hyatt outlines the three questions that a life plan should answer:

  1. How do you want to be remembered — especially by the key people and groups in your life?
  2. What matters most to you? Hyatt uses a metaphor of “life accounts” to list your priorities (spiritual, family, career).
  3. How can you get from here to where you want to be? Envision your future and compare it to your current reality, then create an action list to get you moving towards your goals.

This blog post is a good, quick introduction to why you might want a written plan for your life and what the key elements are. He also offers a free 93-page ebook with templates if you sign up for his newsletter (which you can cancel at any time) and a free Life Plan Word document template (no signup required).
