Best Android Tablet Apps: Readers And Reference

Android tablets can run any Android software, but they really shine with tablet-specific apps and programs that can take advantage of the bigger screen. All week, we’re rounding up our favourite Android tablet apps. Today: apps to keep up with your feeds and check the facts.

Pocket

When you need to carry something around to use later, you put it in your pocket, right? Why should it be any different on your Android tablet? Flipboard

Flipboard is a magazine for your tablet. It’s built so that it takes content from your feeds — be it Google Reader, Facebook, Twitter or curated streams — and formats it into a digital magazine that’s as easy to browse as swiping your finger. Flipboard only supports 7-inch Android tablets right now, though, but getting the APK for 10-inch devices should only be a Google search away.

Wapedia

Wikipedia is an amazing resource, but its Android tablet app leaves a bit to be desired. Wapedia is a free (ad-supported) version that presents you with beautiful images, Wikipedia features like news and prides itself on fast searching. It also links into the sillier side of things with alternate wikis like Uncyclopedia.

Zinio

The magazine industry is slowly in decline, and it’s a real shame considering how beautiful and fun some titles are these days. Enter Zinio. Zinio is a digital newsstand for all the world’s magazines. It offers subscriptions to titles from all over the globe, and it’s stuff you can’t get in the Play Store, either. Best of all, it’s formatted beautifully for tablets.
