Desktop Groups Organises Your Mac Desktop Into Categorised Sections

Mac: Like Fences for Windows, Desktop Groups creates categorised sections of files and folders on your desktop. If you’ve got a messy desk, this app can help you regain control.

We’ve created organised wallpapers for this task, but Desktop Groups offers on-the-fly customisations. You can also vary the way grouped icons are displayed. Want grouped stuff to be smaller than your regular desktop icons? No problem. You can even justify the name in different places and make each group scrollable. Each one operates like its own folder because it is.

All your groups are kept in a standard folder structure on your desktop so you can access them just like folders any time you want. Not only will the app help you organise your clutter a bit more, but by keeping the stuff actually off the desktop, you might even speed up your computer (as the Finder keeps every desktop item’s window in memory).

Desktop Groups costs $6.49, but you can pick up a Lite version for free (which limits you to five groups).
