Build Your Own ‘Office In A Box’ From IKEA Parts

If you live in a home where you don’t have the room for a full-sized desk, but don’t want to settle on a small table to work from, Ikea Hackers shows off a build of an “office in a box” that folds down so it can be stored just about anywhere.

The desk uses a stainless steel kitchen table for the main section, and then stuffs in some desk trays, tabletops, and grated steel shelves. When not in use, everything folds down to a much smaller size so it can be stored easily. Inside the box is a place to stuff a printer, two monitors, several computers and plenty more. The whole thing is also ventilated in the back so you don’t have to worry about overheating.

It’s by no means a simple build, but if you have a small space you need to pack with a lot of equipment it’s a creative solution. Head over to IKEA Hackers for lots of close-up pictures.
