Ping Will Beep Its Last On September 30th

Amongst the announcements new iPhones and iPods, Apple’s also quietly culling its social music network. There was great consternation across the land, or at least there would have been if anybody actually used it.

Apple announced a whole slew of new products this morning, including a revamp for iTunes; we can only hope that this means that the Windows version of iTunes won’t suck quite as badly as it currently does. One feature that won’t make the cut in the upgraded iTunes is Apple’s Ping network; originally launched back in 2010, it was supposed to make music “social”, but seemingly nobody cared. 9 to 5 Mac notes that not only will it be gone with the upgraded version of iTunes, but also that Ping’s no longer accepting new signups.

Any disaffected Ping users out there perturbed by this? Anybody?

Ping is over September 30th, Apple no longer accepting new members
