DIY Ereader Or Tablet Boom Gives You Hands-Free Reading

Ereaders and small tablets are designed to be lightweight, but if you want an even more comfortable experience reading in bed, you can build this simple boom to hold the device for you.

You just need a $20 IKEA desk lamp, a car holder mount for your ereader and mounting tape. IKEA hacker Tony Rex has the instructions for replacing the lamp with the ereader mount.

The mount probably won’t work with the iPad, since the article notes a weight limit of about 300 grams, but it might do for smaller tablets, such as the Nexus 7.

You can even store your reading glasses on the boom and attach an LED booklight.
