Multimon Adds Multiple Menubars, Automatic Window Resizing To Multi-Monitor Macs

Mac: Managing windows between multiple monitors on your Mac can be a little irritating, especially since they don’t automatically resize to the monitor they’re on. Plus, you only get one menubar, so if your default monitor isn’t the one you’re working on, you can’t just look to the top of the screen for your menus. Multimon is a new utility, available now in the Mac App Store, that takes care of both of those problems.

Multimon reminds me a bit of Ultramon or DisplayFusion for Windows. The app adds a menubar to your second (or third) display and gives you hotkeys to quickly move windows from one monitor to another. You also get a menubar icon to click and move windows. When it does move windows, it automatically scales and resizes them for you to match the target monitor’s resolution.

The multi-monitor hotkeys and the additional menubar are features I definitely miss when I switch from my Windows system to my Mac. The only catch with Multimon is the price tag: it’s $10.49 in the Mac App Store. It’s hefty, but if you’re really missing these features, it’s worth the money. If the second menubar is all you need, check out previously mentioned Secondbar — it’s old and rarely updated, but it’s free. What do you think? Is $10.49 too much for what you get, or is it worth the money? Let us know in the comments below.
