The Newest Firefox Beta For Android Is Finally Worthwhile

Android: Firefox has been available on Android for a while, but apart from Firefox-specific features like Firefox Sync, it was never a phenomenal browser, mostly because it was slower than molasses. The newest beta, however, brings a completely new interface and much better performance to Android users everywhere.

The aim of this beta was to provide a better Firefox that blended in with Android’s interface, performed like something you’d actually want to use, and offered good support for third-party plugins like Flash. On all those fronts, it does well. It also offers Firefox Sync, add-ons and a solid home screen to make it worth your while. We definitely miss the old sidebars that you could swipe to open, and the address bar is a tad confusing — there’s no way to go back to the home screen with your top sites — but overall, this update makes Firefox a lot more appealing. If you’re currently using the stable version, head to Google Play and download the beta to reap the benefits.

Firefox Beta is a free download for Android devices. It’s also worth mentioning that if you’re a bit more adventurous, Firefox now has a bleeding-edge Aurora channel available on its website.
