Drill A Hole In The Side Of Your Rubbish Bin To Make A Full Bag Easier To Remove

If you’ve got a medium-sized rubbish bin around the house, you’ve probably had some difficulty removing a full bag of rubbish because it presses up against the bin and the pressure makes the process difficult. Reddit user RIPDigg found a simple solution: drill a hole.

While RIPDigg suggested drilling a hole in the bottom of the can to release air pressure, if anything spills or leaks, you’ll have garbage juice on your floor. (That’s not a trade off you want to make.) Reddit user Wizardish suggested drilling the hole in the side of the can instead, as it offers the same benefits without the concern of a leaky mess. The hole doesn’t have to be large — just large enough so a little air can pass through and release the pressure created by the bag.

Doing that will make it easier to remove the trash bag full of wonderful garbage and avoid tearing it in the process. This is a problem I have at least once a week and was very grateful for this simple solution.

Drill a few holes in the bottom of your garbage can to allow for easy removal of the garbage bag. [Reddit]
