N7player Is A Great Music Player For Android

Android: n7player isn’t the first music player for Android promising a “revolutionary” music-listening experience. Hyperbole aside, the app delivers with a really unique and interesting interface that a number of other players could learn a lot from.

From an artist tag cloud with text sizes based on the number of tracks by that artist in your library to slide-out menus that allow you to pick the album you want to listen to from the artist you’re viewing, n7player makes browsing your own library and finding music to listen to fun again.

n7player doesn’t offer the wealth of features available in our favourite Android music player, PowerAmp, but it does earn points for a great interface. The app automatically downloads your album art, and displays your avialable songs to you either in a tag cloud, where you can tap the name of the artist you want to play, or by album art, in a flat cover-flow style where you can see the album covers of all of the music you have in your library.

There’s a persistent player at the bottom of the screen, so you can navigate your music freely, and if you select an artist, you can browse all of the music you have by that artist by track or by album, and either start playing it immediately or add it to your queue.

You can edit tags and update album art on the fly in n7player, and the app does offer an equaliser, and even if they’re not quite as powerful as the ones available in PowerAmp, they’re great to have available, and they work as advertised.

The app also comes with lock and home-screen widgets, so you can play, pause and skip tracks from your phone’s lock screen, and you can manage playback from your home screen without even opening the app if you choose. Best of all, n7player is completely free. It’s available now in the Android Market if you want to give it a try.
