Make A Hanging Book Display

If you’re lucky to have a kid who loves reading — or if you want to encourage a love of books — consider this simple and inexpensive project. Using two dowels and some fabric, you can hang books in easy reach for your child.

The whole thing costs about $US20 in materials and takes between an hour and four hours, depending on your sewing machine skills. You could use curtain rods instead of dowels and maybe even use curtain panels or other fabric (someone on Apartment Therapy mentioned king-size pillowcases) to minimise sewing. Head over to Penny Carnival for the full instructions.

Since half of my daughter’s bed is covered in books, this is definitely an idea I’m going to try. It might even be useful for adults. What do you think?
