Zoom With Gestures On Google Maps

Lifehacker AU

Trying to get to a particular part of the map on your phone? Lifehacker reader Matt reminds us that Google Maps includes gesture shortcuts for zooming in and out.

Matt writes:

Using Google Maps on the iPhone, everyone knows if you double tap the screen it zooms in. What most people don’t know is that if you tap once with two fingers, it will zoom out.

The same trick also works on Android. Thanks Matt!

And of course, there’s always the faithful pinch-to-zoom gestures.

lots of people don’t know about sliding two fingers down the screen in Android (don’t know about iOS) to change perspective, or pivoting two fingers to rotate the map either. Very nifty.
