Sends Images And Docs Automatically To Picasa From Your Dropbox Folder

Dropbox Automator, a powerful web app that processes files of many types as soon as you place them in Dropbox, got a major update recently with speed improvements, better security and connections to more services. You can now have automated actions for Picasa and Google+, Kindle and Box.net.

These services weren’t connected when we looked at Dropbox Automator when it came out last year. An important new feature is the ability to restrict Dropbox Automator to a single folder of your choosing within Dropbox, rather than giving the app access to your whole Dropbox folder.

You can send .doc, .html, .jpg, .pdf and other file formats automatically to your Kindle via Wi-Fi (free) or over Wispernet (incurs an Amazon charge) and even convert it to Kindle format first.

As soon as you drop a photo in your Dropbox folder, now it can be uploaded to Picasa.

Wappwolf, the developers behind Dropbox Automator, note in a blog post about the update that some are combining the services of If-this-then-that for some amazing automations, such as automatically resizing photos and sending them to Flickr or downloading files from Gmail, converting to PDF and then saving to another folder. Pretty cool stuff. With the update, it’s worth a whirl.
