Correct Your Common Cooking Mistakes

Whether it’s dingy, limp vegetables, limp salad, lumpy gravy, or gummy rice, even the best of us can succumb to simple, common cooking mistakes because we’re not paying attention, using crappy ingredients, or just don’t know any better. Thankfully this list from the folks at Cooking Light magazine walks us through over 40 common cooking errors that many people make, as well as how to fix them and save your taste buds.

The list is pretty expansive and covers a lot of territory, including some mistakes that hopefully you’re not actually making in the kitchen. Even so, it’s worth a look if you’re still producing curled up, overcooked bacon in the morning (they suggest you use a wire rack for even, all-sides heating and start with a cold pan) or your fresh vegetables come out of the pot all mushy (keep a bowl of ice water nearby and shock them to stop the cooking process and preserve their crunch.) Personally, I’ve been known to overcrowd a pan in a rush to get dinner finished quickly.

Thankfully, out of a list of 41 common cooking errors, I can happily say I’ve only been guilty of a few of them. Take a look at the list and then let us know which ones you’ve been known to make, and what you think of their advice in the comments below.
