Turn Off Importance Markers In Gmail If You’re Not Using Priority Inbox

Gmail’s Priority Inbox feature has been around for a while, and if you’re like me, you’ve found that Gmail’s ability to sensibly categorise mail is necessarily limited. Today, I realised it’s time to turn off those importance markers and get rid of all that unnecessarily added visual clutter. It’s simple enough to do. Just point your browser to Settings > Inbox and click the No markers radio box followed by the Save Changes button. Done. It’s an especially helpful tweak if you’re already using stars, since the importance marker is both the same colour and nearly the same visual weight as stars.
