Clean Your Bedroom In 10 Minutes

With busy schedules we rarely clean as often or as thoroughly as we would like. To combat clutter and keep your bedroom tidy between deep cleans consider adding a daily or weekly 10-minute bedroom cleaning to your to-do list. Gather your materials, give yourself a few minutes for each task and in 10 minutes your bedroom should be much less messy than when you started.

Last year Melanie Pinola covered how to put your chores on auto-pilot which introduced me to the concept of 10-minute cleans for the bathrooms and kitchen. Modern living weblog Apartment Therapy now offers suggestions for adding a 10-minute bedroom clean into your schedule.

Simply gather your materials (garbage bag, duster, broom/dustpan or vacuum) and plan to do five tasks, giving each task around two minutes. Good tasks for my bedroom would include picking up anything not in its proper place and putting it on the bed, put each of those items where they belong, make your bed, dust furniture and do a quick pass with the vacuum.

I tend to accumulate clothing items and books as bedroom clutter. In two minutes I can pretty easily gather these on the bed and in another two minutes put everything in the bookshelf, laundry basket, or closet where it belongs. I wasn’t a soldier so my bedmaking mostly consists of straightening up the comforter and putting the pillows in place. Make sure you dust before you vacuum so any dust bunnies will be sucked into the vacuum.

This is no replacement for a seasonal deep cleaning, but it can help keep clutter in check and your bedroom looking much better than with less frequent cleanings.
