Wake ‘n’ Shake Makes You Jiggle Your iPhone To Shut Off Its Alarm

iOS: Despite its adorable name, Wake ‘n’ Shake is a cruel iPhone app that makes you exercise in order to wake up in the morning. If your life is mostly somnambulatory — barring some sort of technological intervention — this app will shock you out of your stupor by making you shake your phone until its alarm finally shuts up.

But don’t worry — Wake ‘n’ Shake won’t grow hair on your palms. It requires a rather vigorous rogering for several seconds that feels much more like readying a can of spray paint than operating a shake weight. You simply set an alarm like you would with the built-in Clock app and wait for it to go off. When it does, you’ll fight it to the death in one-on-one battle between you and your device’s accelerometer.

What also gives Wake ‘n’ Shake a one up on most alarms is the nifty Quick Nap feature. If you just want to sleep for a short period of time, you can set a nap time alarm with one tap. Wake ‘n’ Shake comes with multiple, often humorous alarm options and is a free download (with ads — $0.99 without). If you suck at getting up in the morning, this “merciless alarm clock” will quickly earn its subtitle by your bedside.
