FBSecure Gives You Control Over Facebook App Permissions

Chrome: FB Secure is a Chrome extension that gives you precise control over the permissions that a Facebook application or game gets when you connect it with your Facebook account. For example, if you’re connecting an app but don’t want it to post to your wall, you can deny those permissions while accepting the rest.

Once installed, FBSecure sits in the Chrome toolbar quietly until you connect a site to your Facebook account or install a Facebook application. When you do, the app displays the specific permissions that the app is asking for, and you can check or uncheck the ones that you’re comfortable granting. In some cases, you know the app you’re connecting to doesn’t need to post to your wall or send you email, so you can deny those permissions.

While this works for many applications and sites, keep in mind that it may not work for all of them, and denying permissions that an app needs to function will break it. Still, if you’re connecting a service that you know doesn’t need to post to your wall, see your birthdate, or email you freely, FBSecure gives you the power to turn intrusive permissions off while still using the service you wanted.
