WebRunner Turns Web Apps Into Desktop Apps

Firefox: The WebRunner Firefox extension turns any web app into a standalone application in just a few clicks.

Once you install the extension, you can build a desktop application based on nearly any web app, including the likes of Gmail, Google+ or even Angry Birds. When we last took at look at WebRunner, it is was able to create shortcuts to browser windows, but the functionality stopped there. Now you can utilise the same basic premise but add or subtract functionality based on your needs.

After installing the extension, the process only takes a few clicks. First, visit the web app of your choice in Firefox. From there, click Tools > Create WebRunner App and you’re on your way. You can choose from a variety of options, including enabling and disabling basic browser-style functions, save locations, removing status bars, and picking out your icon. Save the file and you have a brand new application that runs independently of a your browser.
