Avoid Paper Cuts By Using Hand Cream

Ouch! Paper cuts are the bane of anyone who has ever stuffed things in envelopes for a living. But you can avoid the pain with a simple tactic: applying hand cream before you venture into serious paper handling.

The Smarter Admins blog notes that while the reason for this working isn’t entirely clear, it is definitely effective:

Now I put on hand cream multiple times a day, particularly when I’m about to do a bunch of filing or collating of documents. And it works!

I really wish I’d known this back when I was endlessly packaging mail in my university job. Got any other paper cut avoidance tips? Share them in the comments. (Gloves aren’t much help in my experience, since they impede actually handling the paper.)
