ACCC Reminds Parents That ‘Baby Bling’ Is Dangerous And Stupid

Lifehacker AU

It needs to be said — anyone who wants to buy a dummy with bling attached for their infant child probably should have thought twice before breeding. But despite a national ban on “baby bling”, apparently some online stores in Australia are still flogging it.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) issued a press release this week reminding online retailers that baby bling was banned on July 15 after investigations by NSW Fair Trading highlighted that attaching items of jewellery to baby products was a major safety and choking risk. The ban is initially in place for 60 days, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it runs longer.

I don’t recall dumping a comment on this post at any point. We have done some behind-the-scenes upgrades today though, so it might have slipped through the cracks during the changeover.
