Use A CD And Suction Cup As A Dirty Dish Indicator

Never struggle again wondering whether your dishwasher needs to be run or emptied. This clever DIY indicator will let you know at a glance, and it can also be adopted for other Yes/No purposes.

Posted by Lifehacker alum Jason Fitzpatrick, this clever CD-plus-suction-cup indicator is easy to make and use. Attach suction cup to your dishwasher. Write on CD. Attach CD to suction cup. Turn CD to dirty or clean.

Now that we know a CD fits perfectly on a suction cup, we can come up with all sorts of additional uses for this cheap tool: attach it to a network printer to indicate if expensive or draft-quality paper has been loaded into it (at work we used a double-sided sign attached to the printer with string, but this is more fun), notify others if the dog has been fed/walked or not, turn it into a decision-making tool (yes/no/maybe/someday, etc.), assign chores by spinning to see whose name comes up, and many others. Thanks, Jason!

What will you use it for? Let us know in the comments.
