How To Wirelessly Sync Your Jailbroken iOS Device From Anywhere

If you can’t stand only being able to sync your iOS device with iTunes using a cable, a neat app called Wi-Fi Sync solves that problem, letting you sync wirelessly — even over your 3G data connection. The video above will walk you through the process of setting up Wi-Fi Sync, but here are the basic steps you need to complete:

  • Purchase ($US10) and download Wi-Fi Sync from the Cydia Store on your jailbroken iOS device.
  • Download the Wi-Fi Sync desktop application for your Mac or Windows PC and run it.
  • Open Wi-Fi Sync on your iOS device and select the computer currently running the Wi-Fi Sync desktop application.
  • If you’re using the original Wi-Fi Sync version, you’ll simply need to authorise Wi-Fi Sync on your desktop computer. This will let iTunes see the device when it’s connected over Wi-Fi, letting you sync whenever the iOS Wi-Fi Sync app is open. If you’re using the 2.0 beta version, you’ll need to enter a passcode that the desktop version provides. Once you do that, you can sync from pretty much anywhere and can initiate sync directly from the iOS app.

That’s all you have to do. No more cables!
