How To Create Custom Colour Effect Presets In Photoshop

Photoshop lets you create a whole bunch of presets for its different image adjustments to help save you time when doing repeat work. Here’s a look at how to save presets in curves to create reusable custom colour effects for your photos.

The video above will walk you through the whole process, but here are the basic steps:

  • Open up an image in Photoshop and choose Image -> Adjustments -> Curves (or press Command +M on a Mac or Control + M on Windows).
  • Make you adjustments in curves, manipulating the different colour layers to achieve the effect you want.
  • Click the little box in the top right corner. It has an icon that looks like an unordered list (much like this one). It’ll provide you with a drop-down menu. Choose Save Preset, name your new preset, and save it.
  • Next time you use Curves, you’ll be able to select your preset from the presets menu and avoid doing the work again.
