Make Your Own Beautiful, Customised Browser Start Page

We’ve certainly looked at our fair share of awesome browser start pages, but if you want to roll your own one deviantART user has created a pretty awesome starting point.

After posting the Sands of Time Desktop, its creator (Ian Michael Smith) posted a video tutorial demonstrating how to recreate the effects. In that video was a really cool browser start page. This is that start page.

Once you download it, customisation is very easy. Just edit the index.html file included in the package with your favourite plain text editor. You can add your own links and edit the categories to the start page just by making changes in the html file. You can also change bg.jpg to another image if you’d like a different background. When your finished, save the files somewhere locally (or on a remote web server, if you’d prefer) and set that location to your start page. That’s all you have to do to get this really awesome start page up and running.
