8mm Vintage Camera Takes Your iPhone’s Video Camera Back In Time

iOS: 8mm Vintage Camera does what you probably expect: it records video in a vintage style, letting you change lenses and film stock for different effects. It’s like the popular camera app Hipstamatic, but for recording video.

8mm can access both cameras on your device (if you have more than one) and comes with a variety of effects (as seen in the video above). It does little beyond recording and sharing video (which you can save, email, or upload to YouTube), but it’s remarkably fast (on an iPhone 4, anyway). Recording video with effects required no processing time and was simply ready to go immediately after capture. If you’re really into giving your photos that vintage look, you’ll probably be excited to do the same with your videos. The effects are surprisingly nice and definitely do a nicer job than a lot of old film plug-ins you can find for iMovie (or other editing software). We’d just like to see better sharing features to social sites, a la Instragram. If vintage is your thing, it’s worth the $2.49 price. Unlike Instragram, that’s your entrance fee. You don’t have to pay for additional lenses and film stocks.

Now, I’ll leave you with one more video sample:
