Mobile phone manufacturers selling in Europe had previously agreed to follow a common charger standard, and now those specifications are being put into place in 2011.
In other words, soon any European mobile phone charging cord can charge nearly any phone. Elsewhere, the micro-USB connector has become something of a de facto standard among smartphones, excluding the iPhone, but many standard and feature phones use whatever plug their maker seems to prefer. Can you picture a world where leaving your charger at home is actually no big deal?
