This clever Google Maps mashup creates a customised template for making a vertical sundial based on your location and the specific building you’re going to mount it to—seemingly simple, but also pretty clever.

To make your customised sundial template, you just find your spot on Google Maps, click on two points on the map to draw a line parallel to the wall you’re mounting it to, and grab the printable results. Sure, the printable paper sundial is a little school-science-project (a great school project, mind you), but you could also use the template to make something more permanent and interesting. Either way, it’s a very clever idea.
